BT Openreach looking to
recruit more women engineers
WORK / BT Openreach
Recruiting women for engineering jobs. Not your typical engineering job.
BT Openreach are one of the world’s leading communications companies, delivering superfast broadband across the UK. BTOpenreach are set to expand the number of people employed by its engineering arm by focusing on the recruitment of 1,600 women and former Armed Forces personnel.
The additional 1,600 female engineers are being recruited in order to help the operator meet Ofcom’s forthcoming quality of service requirements (i.e. faster fault fixing etc.) and assist in the roll-out of superfast broadband (FTTC/P) technologies.
Peters-Fox created advertising concepts to attract the new female engineers. Particular attention was on developing and creating an authentic image and feeling of what it was like to be a female engineer working for BT Openreach. Peters-Fox also spent a day in the life of a female engineer working in the field and in capturing some of their daily activities involved in the job and its training.
